Biography-
Florida Interior Designer Thomas Patrick Ryan ASID, IIDA
Passionate about design in its myriad forms, Thomas Patrick
Ryan is fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in many
areas of concentration alongside seasoned professionals in
the areas of Interior Design, Architecture, Landscaping, and
Engineering. Throughout his Seventeen years of work experience
in the field, this has allowed him to develop a rather unique
approach to solving interior design problems, one that encompasses
a view to finding comprehensive unified solutions in all the
work he has undertaken.
Having been raised and educated in both North Carolina, and
Central Florida, Thomas feels equally at home within these
two very different cultures. In Carolina, Thomas studied Interior
Design at Western Carolina University, and worked full time
with the reputable Interior Design firm of Perry and Plummer Design, which
specialized in prestigious residential design, historic preservation,
and the creation of corporate facilities for notable companies
such as Bayer Industries. The firm also participated regularly
in the Atlanta Symphony Showhouse Project, which was designed
to raise funds for that organization. The opportunity to work
within a full service interior design firm allowed Thomas to experience
a great diversity of challenging projects of stature, such
as hospitality design for the like of Marriot Suites, etc.
The design philosophy that Thomas embraces stems from the
belief that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing
well. In interior design projects, excellent communication between
client and designer begins through the attentive listening
to the clients stated needs, wants, and desires. The designer
identifies the problems that need to be addressed in the project
and begins to the morph the functional solutions and aesthetic
expression with the clients' vision into a final unifying
concept. The design solution should stress the preeminence
of function, incorporate high quality workmanship, and deliver
the superior aesthetic required in achieving client satisfaction
in any given project.
Recently, Thomas moved to Central Florida to complete his
formal studies and be closer to his family. Having completed
his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at Tampa's premier Design
school, the International Academy of Design and Technology, he is
NCIDQ Certified #020296, and also is a Florida Licensed Interior Designer
#ID 4910. Thomas is now resuming the full time pursuit of his Florida Interior Design
profession. Located at the heart of central Florida near picturesque
Lake Wales, where he can work from Vero Beach, Melbourne, Tampa, Sarasota,
Daytona, Jacksonville, Fort Myers to Naples, or anywhere else in Florida, he is currently establishing a multidisciplinary interior
design practice to service the growing needs of the industry.
