Biography- Marion Koppes Professor of Interior Design
After twenty years of pursuing a career in Design, the Fine
Arts, and Education, Marion Koppes is still happiest when
helping people to define and realize their dreams. Design
work and artistic expression rely largely on acts of imagination,
creation, and the willful transformation of the status quo.
These elements form an integral part of a disciplined approach
to finding satisfying solutions to the challenges we face
in our environments. Simply stated, Marion believes that excellence
stems from good choices, dedication and determination, and
ultimately leads to the creation of inspiring spaces in which
to live, work and play.
Ms. Koppes credits much of her artistic inspiration and vision
to the influences that shaped her throughout her extensive
travels as an adolescent, from North Africa, across Europe
to Russia, and to her studies abroad in the areas of Art History,
Architecture and Comparative Cultures. Her original home,
Montreal, Canada, a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, also provided
her with a very diversified cultural background, where French
culture, language and style were dominant influences. Ms.
Koppes believes that communication is important part of everyday
living, and as a result is fluent in French, Italian, and
English, and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Marion has been a Professor of Interior Design for seven years,
owned her own successful Interior Design business in Canada,
and has also worked extensively as a Professional Fine Artist
with an active exhibition schedule. She has won many awards
as well as government Artists' grants through the competition
process. Ms. Koppes has also done a great deal of volunteer
work for various charities and for Community Arts Programs.
She has also had the privilege of directing College and Community
Educational Arts Programs, including a FIDER accredited program
in Interior Design; her area of foremost passion. Although
Marion has a great appreciation for antiques and historic
preservation, she feels equally at home working in contemporary
styles, and feels that excellence is a goal worth striving
for.
Her belief is that the client requires personalized, attentive
professional service, in order for the design process and
project to be satisfactory, and that designed spaces should
generate awe, as well as uplift the mood of the individual
who experiences it. Designed spaces should do more than meet
clients' needs--they should also inspire the client, improve
productivity, and create a sense of overall satisfaction with
all aspects associated with the area in question. Interior
Design projects have spanned from medical offices to residential,
hospitality to retail, and include many types of contract
design. Ms. Koppes now creates commissioned works of art for
private collectors internationally, and continues to work
on Interiors projects. She currently a member of the Interior Design
faculty at the International Academy of Design and Technology, (Tampa, Florida) Florida's
premier Design School.
